“Ikigai is a Japanese concept that means “a reason for being.” The word “ikigai” is usually used to indicate the source of value in one’s life or the things that make one’s life worthwhile. When looked at together their combination provides us with a framework to aspire towards, a model which charts our satisfaction, delight, excitement and comfort. Exploring our individual ikigai can help us uncover where feelings of emptiness, uselessness, uncertainty and scarcity come from while guiding us towards the intersection of what we love, what we are good at, what the world needs and what we can get paid for.
